Gabe Gómez is a native of El Paso, Texas. His first book, The Outer Bands, won the Andrés Montoya Poetry Prize and was published by the University of Notre Dame Press in 2007. The book focuses on his experiences and those affected by Hurricane Katrina. His second collection of poetry, The Seed Bank, was published by Mouthfeel Press, who will also publish his third book, Samsara at Quantum Zeno, in 2024. He completed his bachelor's degree at the College of Santa Fe (now Santa Fe University of Art and Design). He earned a master's degree in fine arts from Saint Mary's College of California. Gabe has taught at institutions such as Tulane University, the University of New Orleans, and the Institute of American Indian Arts.
Gabe is pursuing an Executive MBA at the UNM Anderson School of Management, with an expected graduation in the Class of 2024. He serves as the Managing Director of Marketing and Communications at the University of New Mexico Foundation and holds the role of editor-at-large for TABLE Magazine New Mexico, where he covers topics related to food, wine, and the cultural heritage of New Mexico. Additionally, Gabe is the President of the American Marketing Association, New Mexico Chapter.
